Eric Coleman
Drums, Stun Guitar, Vocals
Eric started as a drummer in punk bands in the late 70's and then moved to the front of the stage with Jim?, a wise-ass punk band fronted by two standup comics and Soldiers In A Field, a brittle, edgy synth band. After Soldiers In A Field split, he bought a guitar and started writing songs, but stopped performing for over a decade.
Labor Day weekend 2000, his then wife forced him to go to an open mike, on the idea that he didn't need to be up in the morning. He found his way again and as a solo performer Eric played at coffee houses, folk festivals and conventions all around the midwest. Along the line he stopped writing only serious songs and started adding more and more funny stuff to his act. His feet firmly placed in the Dementia music scene, he was a mainstay of the Marscon Funny music track for many years, as well as playing at close to every SF convention in the midwest.
He met gundo at Capricon 2005 and they started to hang out and talk about music. Eric had this idea for a hard rock filk band, and gundo, the great facilitator, decided that it needed to happen. For a year or so Eric tried to keep up both schedules, the solo performer and the hard rock drummer, but eventually stopped playing solo shows (although he still will play solo occasionally, as well as shows with Andy Anda or Amy McNally).
He also plays guitar, bouzouki and cuatro in Cheshire Moon, his band with singer and multi-instrumentalist Lizzie Crowe.
